Anna
How long have you been at paulimot and what are your tasks?
I've been at paulimot since March 2018. I work here as a logistics employee on a variety of different tasks every day. These include, for example, picking and packing ordered goods, but also incoming goods with incoming goods inspection and categorising the goods. In addition to these activities, I also support my colleagues Alfredo, Timo, Jannis and Wolfgang with sales in our specialist shop in Neu-Ulm. In order to be able to give our customers the best possible advice, I regularly inform myself about the technical background of our products.
How is your daily routine organised?
My working day starts with replenishing goods in the order picking area. In the morning, I usually also do small office tasks that we have to do. As soon as we receive the delivery notes for the customer orders from our colleagues in the order processing and dispatch team, we start picking the orders and packing the goods. We always follow the principle of dual control to ensure that the parcels actually contain the goods ordered by the customer. We often take turns so that my logistics colleagues and I never have to do the same job on two consecutive days. In the afternoon, I either help with sales in our speciality shop or - if the shop is less busy - I support my colleagues with the second dispatch run and pick or pack the ordered goods.
You just mentioned it: in addition to your work as a warehouse employee, you also work in sales in our speciality shop. You originally come from the retail sector. What appeals to you about dealing with customers?
Exactly, before I came to paulimot, I worked in retail. During my training in this field, I learnt to always treat customers with the utmost friendliness. The more open and friendly you are towards the customer, the more likely you are to get this friendliness back from the customer. For me, friendliness also expresses appreciation towards the customer and is also a component of good customer service. I also approach customers at paulimot with this guideline in mind and in the vast majority of cases I receive this friendliness back from our customers. That's what I enjoy most about customer contact.
What do you enjoy most about your work in logistics?
My favourite part is unloading the containers. When we receive a container with new goods, many different items are packed together in it. My job is then to sort the goods and pack the sorted goods onto pallets. The goods are also counted and checked and then stored. This task is very physically demanding, as our team moves several tonnes of goods in total when unloading a container. Nevertheless, it is one of the things I enjoy most about logistics.
What do you think sets paulimot apart from other employers?
I simply enjoy going to work every day. I don't take that for granted and that's why I really enjoy the good atmosphere in our team. I have a good relationship with my direct colleagues Tomasz , Waldemar , Sabine and my team leader Frank Schlögel. Of course, everyone has a day when they're not in the best of moods, but I still have the feeling that everyone in the team enjoys coming to work every day and completing their tasks with great enthusiasm.
Thank you, Anna, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your day-to-day work at paulimot.
