Kathleen
Kathleen, you work at paulimot as a clerk in order processing and customer support. What are your tasks?
That's right, I've been part of the team since July 2019 and, together with my deputy team leader Jana Christ and my colleagues Martina and Sarah, I'm responsible for customer support and order processing. On the one hand, this includes advising and answering customer questions on the phone and by email. We also record the orders received and prepare the delivery notes for our colleagues in the Technology and Logistics team. We also support our colleagues in the Purchasing department. I also have other tasks outside of order processing and customer support: In cooperation with our external partner, I take care of data protection at paulimot and support my colleagues in Accounting during stressful periods. I didn't have these additional tasks when I started working at paulimot, but they have gradually been added and my range of tasks has continuously expanded as a result and is now very varied. I'm pleased about this and am working my way deeper and deeper into the subject matter. Nevertheless, customer support is the part of my job that I enjoy the most, as I really appreciate the direct contact with our customers. Of course, there are also difficult conversations, but the majority of our customers praise us for our support and this external recognition motivates me a lot.
How did you come to paulimot and what attracted you to the job?
In this respect, I am a good example of how our presence on social media pays off. A relative of mine is a customer at paulimot and follows our channel on Facebook. He saw the job advert there and forwarded it to me. The job profile immediately appealed to me and the application process went smoothly, so I was able to join the company straight away. Before I came to paulimot, I completed an apprenticeship as an office management assistant in a large corporation. In order to develop both personally and professionally, I then looked for a new challenge and found it here. Of course, it was a bit of a change for me to move from a large corporation to a comparatively small, dynamic family business. But I quickly learnt to appreciate the advantages. For example, I can contact the management directly if I have any questions, not least because of the short lines of communication and flat hierarchies in the company. I can contribute myself and my ideas, scrutinise structures and processes and help to improve them. I also get the feeling every day that my opinion is important, be it from my direct colleagues in the team, my team leader or the management.
Do you also have contact with the other teams in your day-to-day work?
As I support my colleagues in Accounting during stressful periods, I naturally have contact with the Finance and Administration team. In my role as Data Protection Coordinator, I regularly come into contact with all employees, including those outside my own team. I also have daily contact with my colleagues from Technical Support, as we sometimes process customer enquiries together in order to answer them in the best possible way. I regularly hand over the delivery notes for order picking and the reservation slips for machine orders to the Technology and Logistics team, so there is a continuous exchange of information here too. And my colleagues from the e-commerce and marketing team come to me with orders from our advertising cooperation partners or I forward them corresponding emails and enquiries that arrive at our email address support@paulimot.de.
How do you rate the working atmosphere?
First of all, the working atmosphere in my team is very pleasant. I was welcomed with open arms right from the start and was very well trained. The same applies to every new colleague and our two trainees who have joined us since then. The team is very harmonious and we work together as equals, so a friendly relationship has quickly developed within the team. In terms of the company as a whole, I also find the way we treat each other to be very respectful and collegial. If there are any disagreements, they are quickly sorted out and I think that all colleagues are very happy. Everyone is committed to the company and team spirit is very important.
Thank you, Kathleen, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your day-to-day work at paulimot.
