Sarah
Sarah, which team do you work in, what is your exact job title and what are your tasks?
I work in the order processing and customer support team as a clerk. Together with my colleagues Martina, Elena GeiĂŸinger, Kathleen and my deputy team leader Jana Christ, I make up this team. However, I have been on parental leave since autumn 2019. As part of my role, I deal with all issues relating to our customers' enquiries and orders. This includes answering customer questions by email or on the phone. Some of our customers' questions relate to our products, but often also to the status of an order or delivery. On the other hand, I deal with complaints, e.g. in the event of transport damage, and liaise with our logistics partners. We carry out a dispatch run twice a day, i.e. we import the incoming orders into our merchandise management system, subject them to various automated and, if necessary, manual checks, print out the delivery notes and pass them on to our colleagues in Logistics. The Technology and Logistics team then picks the ordered goods and packs the parcels so that they can be dispatched to our customers on time.
Which of your tasks do you enjoy the most?
I particularly enjoy taking care of the dispatch process, i.e. processing customer orders and creating delivery notes. If everything runs smoothly and the IT doesn't let us down (which sometimes happens with a fairly complex process with lots of technical interfaces), it's a very structured job where you know exactly what needs to be done. You also have set times by which tasks have to be completed so that the parcels can be dispatched on time. The job is therefore very important for the shipping process and at the end of the day I go home satisfied and with a good feeling because I know that I have contributed to customers receiving their orders as quickly as possible.
How did you come to paulimot?
I had known the Managing Director Simone Paulitschek for a long time before I started at paulimot. We pursue a hobby together and have always exchanged ideas in private. So I already knew a bit about the company and heard about its successful growth. When I heard about the vacancy in order processing and customer support, I could immediately imagine becoming part of this dynamic family business. I therefore applied straight away and then started at paulimot in September 2017.
How has your team developed since you started at the company?
In the two years before I took parental leave for the time being, my team has grown continuously. Several new colleagues joined us. In addition, Jana Christ is now the deputy head of my team and, due to the growth, we are now physically separated from the colleagues responsible for finance and administration. This will all be new for me. When I return from my parental leave, I'm particularly looking forward to working with my team and the change from everyday family life.
What do you like about paulimot as an employer?
I particularly like the friendly atmosphere at work. I also find the flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes very positive. This means that issues can be resolved very quickly and you're not kept on hold forever. I feel very comfortable, both in my team and in the company as a whole. This is helped by the fact that I get on very well with my team colleagues in my private life as well as in business. Since I went on parental leave, paulimot has continued to grow and many new colleagues have joined us. I'm already looking forward to getting to know them and working with them.
Thank you, Sarah, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your day-to-day work at paulimot.
