Intended use

A centre punch (often also called a centre point or rolling centre punch) is one of the most important tools when working with a lathe. It is used to secure the tailstock so that long, thin and heavy workpieces can be machined safely and accurately. Centre punches are mainly used at higher speeds.

Description of the

The centre point has double bearings and therefore achieves a high concentricity of max. 0.007 mm. It can be used up to a speed of 1,500 rpm. The steel tip is hardened and ground, which increases the load capacity and service life of this item. The point angle of this centre point is 60°, as is usual for centre points.

In contrast to fixed centre points, the tip of live centre points rotates with the workpiece, which prevents friction and enables higher speeds.

We supply live centre points in sizes MK0 to MK4.
