Intended use
Turning tools with replaceable cutting inserts are characterised by the fact that worn cutting edges can be replaced quickly and easily. This eliminates the need for the tedious and time-consuming task of regrinding the cutting edge. Another advantage of turning tools with indexable or replaceable inserts is that, depending on the material to be machined, the most suitable insert can be mounted in the holder. For example, there are special cutting inserts for machining aluminium or non-ferrous metals. Both the holders and the cutting inserts are standardised and can be identified by their respective standard designations.
