Intended use
Taps are used to create an internal thread, i.e. a threaded bore, in metal, plastic or other solid materials. A general distinction is made between hand taps and machine taps, also known as single-cut taps. In a 3-piece hand tap set, the roughing, semi-finishing and finishing cutters each extend almost the entire length of the cutting edge. This type of tap is primarily used for cutting threads in blind holes. In single-flute taps, the roughing, intermediate and finishing cutters are arranged one after the other along the cutting edge. These taps are therefore particularly suitable for cutting through-holes.

Single-flute tap
For producing a metric ISO standard thread
Cobalt-alloyed (5 %) for higher heat resistance
Tolerance class h6, manufactured in accordance with DIN 371
Cylindrical shank with square section
Description of the
This machine tap / single-cut tap is made from an alloy of HSS steel with a cobalt content of 5 %. The cobalt content increases the heat resistance of the tap. The advantage of a machine tap over a hand tap set is that only one pass is required to produce the thread. This tap is used to produce metric ISO standard threads. At the end of the cylindrical shank there is a square for mounting in a tap wrench. The tap is manufactured in accordance with DIN 371 and is subject to tolerance class h6.
