Intended use
With a mounting flange for collets, these can also be used on a lathe. Unlike clamping with three- or four-jaw chucks, clamping with collets ensures that the workpiece is clamped cleanly and gently all round, preventing pressure marks, particularly on softer workpieces. As a rule, collet systems offer higher concentricity than lathe chucks.
