Description of the
This 12 mm diameter snake drill bit, measuring 460 mm in length, is designed for drilling in wood and is suitable for beams, square-edged timber, solid wood, laminated timber and wood-based materials. The 460 mm version offers a long tool design for timber construction, assembly, interior fitting and workshop use, where clean drill holes need to be made through thicker materials. The drill bit is made from hardened carbon tool steel. This material provides a stable foundation for wood drilling tools and supports a durable cutting geometry during regular use. The hardening process increases the wear resistance of the cutting edges and contributes to reliable drilling performance in typical wood-based materials. The centring tip enables precise positioning on the workpiece. The feed thread at the tip draws the drill bit into the wood in a controlled manner and reduces the required pressure. This promotes a smooth drilling process. To ensure clean hole edges, the snake drill bit is fitted with a pre-cutter. This pre-cuts the wood fibres at the edge of the hole and helps to reduce tear-outs. At the same time, the Lewis spiral ensures excellent chip evacuation and reliably transports the chips out of the drill hole. The taper toward the shank, ranging from 1:50 to 1:100, is designed to prevent the drill bit from jamming in the hole and to ensure smooth cutting through the material.

Our auger bits are made from high-quality, hardened carbon tool steel. This choice of material enables high cutting performance and resilience. The auger bit is also equipped with a centring tip, which enables very precise centring of the drill bit. A retractable thread on the centre point pulls the drill bit into the wood so that less pressure needs to be exerted when drilling.
While a clean and tear-free hole edge can also be produced at low speeds thanks to the pre-cutter, the auger bit also impresses with very good chip removal.
The auger bit is suitable for drilling through holes in beams and rafters as well as for making deep blind holes.
A taper in the direction of the clamping shank of 1:50 to 1:100 is intended to prevent jamming in the hole.
The set is supplied in a practical wooden box.
