Intended use
The BSG13-K drill bit grinder is suitable for re-grinding and regrinding twist drills with diameters ranging from 2 to 13 mm. In addition to the precise grinding of the main cutting edges, the machine enables cross-grinding at the drill tip.

Description of the
This drill bit grinder is designed for the precise regrinding and resharpening of twist drills with diameters ranging from 2 to 13 mm. It is suitable for use in workshops, metalworking, maintenance and tool care, where blunt or damaged drill bits need to be restored to working order. The main difference compared to the BSG13 lies in the additional option of creating a cross-cut at the tip of the drill bit. This allows the drill bit to engage more easily at the centre, centre itself better and require less feed force when drilling into metal. Particularly with larger twist drills, this improves the initial drilling performance and reduces wobble on the workpiece surface. The unit includes collets for standard diameters of 2–13 mm, enabling common drill bits to be securely clamped and ground with precise guidance. The grinding wheel features a steel body and is coated with a fine 200-grit CBN grain, grade B46. CBN stands for cubic boron nitride and is manufactured industrially. After diamond, CBN is one of the hardest known abrasives, yet it offers greater thermal stability when grinding hardened steel. This makes the material particularly robust and durable when machining tool steel and hardened cutting edges. Compared to conventional abrasives, a CBN grinding wheel achieves very effective material removal. Despite its fine grit size, it is therefore suitable not only for re-sharpening, but also for repairs and initial grinding. Thanks to the good thermal conductivity of the CBN material and the heat absorption capacity of the steel body, only a small amount of heat is generated during grinding. This significantly reduces the risk of the drill bit becoming overheated. At the same time, there is minimal sparking, and additional cooling is generally not required. The combination of a guided drill chuck, a CBN grinding wheel, a cross-grinding function, rapid steel removal and a fine finish makes this tool a practical solution for the regular sharpening of twist drills.
