Intended use
Indexable cutting inserts are used in machining and are fitted to the appropriate turning tools or milling cutters. Depending on the intended application or the material to be machined, cutting inserts are available in various shapes and with special coatings. For example, there are special inserts for machining aluminium or non-ferrous metals. The inserts are standardised and can be identified by their respective standard designation. If an insert is worn out, it is simply replaced with a new one.

Carbide indexable insert with titanium-aluminium-nitrogen coating (TiAlN)
For machining hard materials, such as steel, stainless steel and titanium alloys
High hot hardness and oxidation resistance
For higher cutting speeds
Cooling not strictly necessary
Description of the
The advantages and properties of the titanium-aluminium-nitrogen coating (TiAlN coating):
The TiAlN coating is an all-round coating that is suitable for universal use. It allows the machining of hard materials such as steel, stainless steel or titanium alloys. Another advantage of this insert is that the use of cooling lubricant is not absolutely necessary. However, the use of coolant generally increases the service life of the insert.

The advantages and properties of this polished insert:
The highly positive geometry in combination with the sharply ground cutting edges and the sintered chip breakers enable excellent machining of aluminium and non-ferrous metals such as brass, copper, bronze, etc.
Thanks to these geometric properties, particularly good surface results can be achieved. The highly positive geometry reduces the formation of a so-called built-up edge when machining aluminium. Very good results can also be achieved when machining both cast iron and plastics.
This insert is made of sintered carbide. The high temperature resistance of carbide allows higher cutting speeds in contrast to HSS tools. In addition, this insert is titanium nitride-coated, which contributes to greater heat resistance and tool life. TiN-coated inserts are intended for universal use. This means that soft materials can be machined in the same way as hard materials.
