Centre drill 2.5 mm TiN-coated

Intended use

A centre drill is used to create a centre point on workpieces. This centre hole allows, for example, a centre point to be used to support the workpiece via the tailstock of a lathe. A centre drill can also be used for pre-drilling. Due to the small size of the centre point on the drill, only minor radial forces and reaction forces caused by the chip are generated when starting to drill a workpiece. This reduces the likelihood of the drill ‘running off course’, thereby significantly improving the positional accuracy of the hole to be drilled. The actual hole can then be drilled using a twist drill, which is guided laterally from the outset by the centring hole. Centre drills are particularly short and have a stepped profile, featuring an additional centre point at the very front. The diameter of this point is also the nominal diameter of the centre drill.
