Intended use
A centre drill is used to create a centre point on workpieces. This centre hole allows, for example, a centre point to be used to support the workpiece via the tailstock of a lathe. A centre drill can also be used for pre-drilling. Due to the small size of the centre point on the drill, only minor radial forces and reaction forces caused by the chip are generated when starting to drill a workpiece. This reduces the likelihood of the drill ‘running off course’, thereby significantly improving the positional accuracy of the hole to be drilled. The actual hole can then be drilled using a twist drill, which is guided laterally from the outset by the centring hole. Centre drills are particularly short and have a stepped profile, featuring an additional centre point at the very front. The diameter of this point is also the nominal diameter of the centre drill.

6-piece set, in an aluminium case with foam insert
Each drill bit can be used on both sides
Made from HSS steel
Titanium-aluminium nitride (TiAlN) coating for a longer service life
For machining hard materials such as steel, stainless steel and titanium alloys
Description of the
This set consists of six centring drills with nominal diameters of 1.0 / 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.15 and 4.0 mm. The drills are made of HSS steel and can be used on both sides. In addition, the centre drills are titanium-aluminium-nitride coated, which results in high resistance to heat hardening and oxidation. Titanium-aluminium-nitrite (TiAlN) is a compound of titanium, aluminium and nitrogen. The TiAlN coating is an all-round coating that is suitable for universal use. It allows the machining of hard materials such as steel, stainless steel or titanium alloys. Another advantage is that the use of cooling lubricant is not absolutely necessary. However, the use of coolant generally increases the service life of the drill.
The set is supplied in an aluminium case with a foam insert for practical and safe storage.

In addition, the centre drills are titanium nitride-coated, which contributes to greater heat resistance and tool life. TiN-coated drill bits are intended for universal use. This means that soft materials can be machined just as well as hard materials. The set is supplied in an aluminium box with foam insert for practical and safe storage.
