Intended use
A reamer is used for the fine machining of bores. The bores, which should usually be drilled 0.1 to 0.2 mm below nominal size, can be reamed to their final size using a reamer. In the vast majority of cases, reamers are used to ream bores for dowel pins. Machining the bore in this way ensures a high degree of dimensional and geometric accuracy, as well as a high surface finish on the finished reamed bore.
