Cutter head 80 mm with 6 inserts (TiAlN-coated)

Intended use

Cutterheads are mainly used for face milling surfaces, as fewer milling passes are required due to the larger milling diameter compared to end mills. It is also possible to mill offsets on surfaces. The main advantages of milling heads compared to HSS end mills, for example, are the standardised indexable inserts, with which very high cutting performance can be achieved. Depending on the material to be machined, inserts with different coatings can be used. Cutter heads are used together with a milling arbour.

Description of the

The cutter head is suitable for face or shoulder milling (radius 6 mm) of surfaces. The diameter of the cutter is 80 mm. The cutter head is nickel-coated. This nickel coating offers excellent corrosion protection. Nickel is resistant to air, water, diluted acids, lubricants and most alkalis. Another feature of the nickel surfaces is the visual enhancement of the cutterhead, which is fitted with six TiAlN-coated indexable inserts. The advantages and properties of the titanium-aluminium-nitride coating (TiAlN coating):Titanium-aluminium-nitride (TiAlN) is a compound of the elements titanium, aluminium and nitrogen. A key feature of this coating is its high resistance to heat hardening and oxidation. This coating is intended for use in the machining of hard and tough materials and therefore for high machining temperatures. The TiAlN coating allows hardened, alloyed steels and cast iron to be machined. One advantage of cutterheads with round inserts (if they are only used for face milling) is that the inserts can be used around the entire circumference. This means that if the round cutting insert is worn at one point, it is only turned a little further. In contrast, a square insert can only be turned once or twice.

This milling head / cutter head with MK3 shank is suitable for face and shoulder milling. It is not suitable for plunging into a workpiece. Thanks to its MK3 shank, this milling cutter can be inserted directly into the tool holder; no additional milling arbour is required.

This mini fly cutter set consists of three fly cutters with different head diameters including matching HSS inserts. The impact cutters are made of burnished steel. The cylindrical clamping shanks make them suitable for use in drilling / boring heads. The rake and flank faces of the HSS inserts are already pre-ground. To achieve optimum results, the chip grooves must be ground before use. The HSS inserts have a clamping surface for a better hold in the impact milling cutter.

This set is supplied with a wooden storage cube.
