Intended use
A centre punch (often also called a centre point or rolling centre punch) is one of the most important tools when working with a lathe. It is inserted into the tailstock as a safety device in order to be able to machine long, thin and heavy workpieces safely and accurately. With its seven interchangeable inserts, this set offers you a wide range of possible applications. The outer taper is particularly suitable for centring hollow bodies such as pipes. The inner taper included in the set can also be used to centre workpieces without a centre. The five centring points allow you to perform delicate work on the workpiece. Centre punches are mainly used at higher speeds.

Description of the
The centre punch tip has double ball bearings and therefore achieves a high concentricity of max. 0.015 mm. It can be used up to a speed of 2000 rpm. The steel centre points and cones are hardened and ground, which increases the load capacity and service life of this item. The point angle of these centre points is 60°, as is usual for centre points. The angle of the outer cone is 70°.
In contrast to fixed centre points, the tip of rotating centre points rotates with the workpiece, which prevents friction and allows higher speeds.
We can supply you with further centre punches with 7 inserts in sizes MK1, MK3 and MK4.

This adjustable fixed centre point is an accessory for lathes and is used for taper turning and cone turning. It enables lateral adjustment of the workpiece support without moving the lathe’s tailstock using the traditional method. This allows conical workpieces to be machined in a controlled manner with reduced setup effort. The centre point is fixed and does not rotate with the workpiece. It is used to support the workpiece between centres and is particularly suitable for applications where robust and simple support is required when turning conical shapes. The centre angle is 60°, making it suitable for typical centring tasks in turning operations. The centre point can be moved laterally by up to +/- 7 mm using the adjustment mechanism. This allows the desired taper or cone to be precisely set. The scale aids controlled adjustment and facilitates repeatable setting for suitable applications. With an overall length of 153 mm and a tip diameter of 24 mm, the centre point is designed for use on compatible lathes. The MK2 + MK3 version enables attachment to machines with a matching Morse taper mount. The adjustable fixed centre point is suitable for machining cones, tapered fits, adaptors, sleeves and similar workpiece shapes. It is a practical solution for users who wish to produce tapered workpieces on a lathe without having to reposition the tailstock themselves.
This rotating centre point is a practical accessory for lathes and has been specially developed for precise conical turning. It allows lateral adjustment of the workpiece support without the need for time-consuming repositioning of the lathe’s tailstock. This allows conical workpieces to be machined in a controlled manner, with repeatable accuracy and reduced setup effort. As the centre point rotates with the workpiece, friction is reduced and smooth workpiece guidance is ensured. The double-bearing design also ensures stability and smooth running, which is particularly advantageous when machining longer workpieces or producing conical shapes. The centre point can be moved laterally by +/- 15 mm using the adjustment mechanism. This allows the desired taper to be precisely set without altering the tailstock’s basic setting. This simplifies repetitive tasks and improves control when producing cones, tapered fits, adaptors, sleeves or similar workpiece shapes. The live centre features an MK2 taper. A reduction sleeve from MK3 to MK2 is also included in the scope of delivery. This allows it to be used directly in an MK2 chuck or, with the aid of the supplied reduction sleeve, in an MK3 chuck. This increases flexibility when using the tool on different lathes.
The centre point has two ball bearings and therefore achieves a high concentricity of max. 0.02 mm. It can be used up to a speed of 2500 rpm. The steel centre points and cones are hardened and ground, which increases the load capacity and service life of this item.
In contrast to fixed centre points, the tip of live centre points rotates with the workpiece, which prevents friction and enables higher speeds.
We can supply you with further centre punches with 13 inserts in size MK3 and with 7 inserts in sizes MK1 as well as MK2, MK3 and MK4.
