Intended use
A parting-off steel can be used either for parting off or for grooving. A major advantage of parting steel holders with HSS knives is that the knives can be resharpened depending on the application requirements. For example, the grooving width can be reduced or the angle changed by grinding the blade. The thinner the cutting edge, the more delicate the work can be. The holder also allows you to securely clamp and quickly adjust the holder.

There are three tension screws on the top of the holder, which can be tightened or loosened using the Allen key. The 153 x 19 x 3 mm cut-off blade is particularly suitable for grooving and parting off during your turning work, as these dimensions give the blade a high degree of inherent stability, which in turn helps to increase the maximum grooving depth.
The blade can be sharpened or ground depending on the intended use. For example, the plunge width can be reduced or the blade angle changed. This enables universal material processing.
The narrower the cutting edge, the finer the work that can be carried out. Please note that reducing the blade width also increases the risk of vibrations at higher pressure.
The five per cent cobalt alloy of the HSS blade also increases the heat and wear resistance and therefore the durability of the blade.
Please note that the blade is already pre-ground. However, the chip breaker must be reground.
