Intended use
Fixed centres are used to prevent long, thin workpieces from bending during machining on a lathe. Fixed centres are also the method of choice when long workpieces need to be machined at the face end.

Description of the
This cast iron steady rest is secured to the prism bed of the SIEG SC12 using a clamping block. The three brass support jaws are infinitely adjustable via knurled screws and allow for easy positioning on the workpiece. The position of the support jaws can be fixed using a hex nut for each jaw. This faceplate allows workpieces with a diameter of up to 70 mm to be machined.
