Fixed steady rests are used to prevent long, thin workpieces from bending during machining on the lathe. Fixed steady rests are also the method of choice when long workpieces have to be machined on the face side.

Description of the

This cast steady rest is attached to the prism bed of the SIEG SC4 using a clamping block. The three brass support jaws are infinitely adjustable using knurled screws and enable easy positioning on the workpiece. The setting of the support jaws can be fixed using a hexagon nut for each jaw. Workpieces with a diameter of up to 58 mm can be machined with this steady rest.

Ausreichend gut

Die feststehende LĂ¼nette war noch nicht im Einsatz, wird aber ihren Einstand bekommen... Fest auf dem Bett montiert wird sie lange WerkstĂ¼cke drehend lagern, damit kein labberiges Ende stillgehalten werden muĂŸ. DĂ¼nne eAxen und längere besondere Welen verlangen dringend nach einem solchen tool. Allerdings ist das Einstellen etwas problematisch, weil die Schlitten und Stellschrauben recht grob gefertigt sind. Sollte man sich sowas mal aus Alu bauen mit Kugellagern an den Enden der Messing-Schlitten ? :-)
