Intended use
An HSS turned blank or billet is used for turning, boring, grooving, etc. It is particularly suitable for grinding shaped steel. HSS steel (high-speed steel) is a high-alloy tool steel which is mainly used as a cutting material in machining. It has the highest fracture toughness and the best grindability, making it very well suited for grinding to shape for various applications.
