Intended use
An HSS turned blank or billet is used for turning, boring, grooving, etc. It is particularly suitable for grinding shaped steel. HSS steel (high-speed steel) is a high-alloy tool steel which is mainly used as a cutting material in machining. It has the highest fracture toughness and the best grindability, making it very well suited for grinding to shape for various applications.

It’s okay to be used for engraving but it feels like it’s softer than the other blanks I bought locally in Sweden.
