Description of the
This broach set can be used to cut keyways or keyways in widths of 2, 3 and 4 mm. In addition to the broaches, the set also includes four guide bushes with diameters of 6 to 12 mm, three key blanks (2.9 x 2.9 mm and 3.9 x 3.9 mm) and two shims.
Broaches are usually used in rack and pinion presses or hydraulic workshop presses.
The broaches are made of HSS steel and are slightly conical, the cutting edges thicken in the cutting direction. As a result, the broached keyway becomes slightly deeper with each tooth.
To cut a keyway, the workpiece is placed on the work table of the press and the appropriate guide bush is inserted into the bore of the workpiece. The broach is then inserted into the holder, moistened with sufficient cutting oil and pressed through the workpiece with the press. The shims can be used to make the groove deeper.
