Analogue calipers
Analogue calipers have either a vernier or a round scale (dial gauge) as a reading aid. On calipers with a dial gauge, the whole millimetres are read off the vernier scale and the hundredths of a millimetre from the round scale. Analogue calipers with vernier also show the whole millimetres on the graduated scale, but the detailed millimetre values are read off the vernier.
