Milwaukee 10-piece step drill and metal drill bit set

Intended use

A step drill, also known as a taper drill or taper step drill, is a special drilling tool that is used to drill holes in metal, plastic and other materials. In contrast to conventional twist drills, a step drill has a gradually increasing diameter structure. Step drills are commonly used in metalworking, electronics assembly, automotive workshops and other applications where precise holes of various diameters are required. They are particularly useful for installations where screws or bolts need to be fastened into metal plates, as they can drill holes of different sizes quickly and efficiently.

10-piece set: two step drills and eight HSS-G metal drills

RAPID STRIKET drill point for easier centring

For clean and burr-free drill holes

Centre punching, drilling and deburring in one step

Made from special steel with black oxide coating

Description of the

This set consists of two step drills and eight HSS-G metal drill bits in five different diameters. The step drills are ideal for drilling in alloyed and unalloyed sheet metal, profiles, pipes, copper, brass, aluminium, stainless steel and plastics. The use of coolant is recommended to increase tool life. The step drills are made of special steel and have a black oxide coating. The special drill point and special step geometry enable chatter-free drilling. Each step is relief-ground for optimum drill feed and automatic deburring. The shank has three clamping surfaces so that the step drills can be securely clamped in a drill chuck. The respective diameter is laser-marked on the step drills.
The twist drills are made of HSS steel and comply with DIN 338. The 135° drill bit tip with cross-grinding in accordance with DIN 1412 C enables precise spot drilling without centre punching. The THUNDERWEB spiral shape ensures rapid chip evacuation and therefore less heat generation and therefore a longer tool life. Compared to roll-rolled twist drills, these drills achieve up to 40 % faster drilling progress and up to 50 % lower feed force. THUNDERWEB drills are suitable for machining alloyed and unalloyed steel with a strength of up to 900 N/mm².
