Intended use

Position displays are a component of digital position measurement systems. Sensors are used to detect movements or changes in position, which are then shown on a connected display. A distinction is made between optical systems (glass scales) and magnetic systems (magnetic tape and read head). Digital position displays can perform a wide range of functions via their software.

Description of the

The 7-inch LCD touchscreen of this position display is housed in a high-quality cast aluminium casing. The position display can be attached to magnetic surfaces using a magnetic stand; the stand also features two mounting holes for M6 cylinder head screws. Both glass scales and read heads for magnetic tapes can be connected to the 9-pin TTL interfaces. The boot menu allows you to switch between turning and milling modes. The languages available are German, English, Spanish, French and Chinese.

The following functions are available in turning mode:

  • Taper turning
  • Tool compensation
  • The travel distance on the X-axis can be displayed either as a diameter or as a radius.
  • It is possible to display Z and Z0 combined, i.e. the travel distance of the bed slide and the travel distance of the upper slide are shown as a total.

The following functions are available in milling mode:

  • Inclined contour / surface: Milling of chamfers or diagonal surfaces
  • Setting any number of drill holes at equal intervals on a straight line (SHL function)
  • Milling a radius or circular arc
  • Display of a bolt circle for evenly spaced holes on a circular arc
  • Determining the midpoint between two points

In all operating modes, values can be displayed in mm or inches. It is possible to change the sign when displaying the individual axes. A standby mode can be activated on the position display. The display brightness, date, time and acoustic signals can be adjusted. A calculator function with memory is also available.
