Intended use
A Japanese saw is a hand saw that operates on a pull stroke, thereby enabling controlled, precise cutting. It is mainly used for sawing timber and wood-based materials, particularly for fine, dimensionally accurate cuts. The thin saw blade produces a narrow kerf, which reduces material removal. Typical applications include cross-cuts, rip cuts and mitre cuts in furniture making, interior fit-out and traditional woodworking.

Description of the
This Ryoba Japanese saw has a saw blade serrated on both sides. One side is ideal for longitudinal cuts, the opposite side for cuts across the wood fibre. The saw blade has a robust design with a thickness of 0.8 mm and enables clean and dimensionally accurate cuts. The saw is particularly suitable for deep cuts and fast set-off cuts. The pull cutting technique requires minimal effort and significantly reduces material loss. This Japanese saw is particularly suitable for precise parting, rip and fine cuts in solid wood, mouldings and wood-based materials. The saw blade is made of Japanese carbon steel (SK5). This steel is known for its high hardness, toughness, high wear resistance and good edge retention. Its composition (approx. 0.8 - 0.9 % carbon) makes it very resistant to abrasion and it is easy to sharpen. Due to the low chromium content in the steel, the saw blade should be cleaned and oiled after use to prevent corrosion.
