Intended use

Chuck jaws are an essential component of a lathe chuck. Centrally adjustable lathe chucks are usually equipped with one set of internal or drilling jaws and one set of external or turning jaws. Depending on the application, one of the two jaw variants can be used on the lathe chuck. Internal jaws are stepped outwards from the centre of the chuck and are particularly suitable for clamping workpieces with smaller diameters.

This numbering allows the jaws to be inserted into the lathe chuck in the correct order to ensure that the workpiece is clamped in the centre of the chuck.
