Intended use

Clamping jaws are an essential component of a lathe chuck. Individually adjustable four-jaw lathe chucks are usually fitted with a set of reversible jaws. These jaws can be used as either internal or external jaws. Internal jaws, also known as boring jaws, are particularly suitable for clamping smaller workpieces, whilst external jaws are suitable for clamping larger workpiece diameters. Depending on the application, either type of jaw can be used on the lathe chuck.
