Trademark at paulimot: Long hair tied in a ponytail
Timo
Timo, you work in the Technical Sales and Customer Support team at paulimot. What are your tasks?
That's right, I form this team with my colleagues Alfredo, Michael, Jannis and Wolfgang, who work as technical salespeople like me, and our team leader Frank.
Are there any areas of your work that you particularly enjoy?
Direct contact with our customers is definitely an aspect of my daily work that I really enjoy. Especially on the phone or in person in our specialist shop, I can respond directly to the customer and also get direct feedback on my advice. Problems and questions are best resolved in dialogue. I had a nice experience that I like to remember when I was able to help a customer with his machine. As a thank you, he sent us some Swiss chocolate. That naturally makes me proud and encourages me in my work. Another very interesting area is the collaboration with the e-commerce and marketing team. I can act as a source of inspiration here and apply my expertise. I find it particularly interesting to explain and explain in an understandable way the actions and work steps that I have practised and that come automatically to me. I regularly scrutinise my own actions and am delighted when I can help our customers.
How did you come to paulimot and what attracted you to the job?
I came across the job advert on the Internet and was immediately interested as the job description very precisely covered the aspects in which I had professional experience. I originally trained as a car mechanic and worked in this field. Later, out of interest in the field, I decided to complete a second apprenticeship as a cutting machine operator and to do my master's degree. I am always willing to learn new things and continue my education. That's why it appealed to me to familiarise myself with the structures here at the company, to be involved in the entire process from the presentation of a product to sales and after-sales service and to take responsibility for advising our customers.
You've already mentioned that some customer enquiries are discussed together as a team. How is the collaboration in your team organised?
When I started at paulimot, I received a very warm welcome from my team and was given a very thorough induction. I am really grateful to my colleagues and my team leader for this, as I knew from the outset what my responsibilities were and what was expected of me. As I very quickly had direct contact with our customers and was able to process enquiries, I never felt like the "new kid on the block", but a fully-fledged member of the team from the very beginning. And of course I was also able to celebrate my first successes quickly, for example when a customer thanked me for my expert advice, which always gives me an extra boost of motivation. The interaction within the team is very collegial and if you have any questions, you can always talk to each other and discuss them. You are constantly learning new things and expanding your existing expertise with details about our paulimot products.
As a Technical Consultant, you are very close to our products. What is your favourite product from our range?
I actually have two favourite products from our range. Firstly, I really like our PM2500 lathe. It is small enough to be placed on a table without any problems. At the same time, its 400-volt drive makes it a real powerhouse, so you can machine any material from steel to aluminium with it. My second favourite product is our measuring stand with magnetic base and central clamping. Before I came to paulimot, I had already worked with magnetic stands a lot and really appreciated the support they provided for my work. I think it's great that we can offer such a high-quality magnetic stand for such a low price and I'm happy to recommend it to our customers.
Many thanks, Timo, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your day-to-day work at paulimot.
