How to find the right indexable insert for your clamping holder
Not sure which indexable insert fits your turning tool clamp holder? Or would you like to reorder an indexable insert for your clamp holder, but don't have an invoice or packaging with the corresponding labelling?
Here you can find out how to make optimum use of our search function to find the right indexable insert for your turning tool.
1. standardisation of the clamping holder
Similar to indexable inserts, turning toolholders also have a standardised designation. This is printed on the shank of the turning tool and helps you to identify indexable inserts that are suitable for your clamp holder.
The standard designation of the clamping holder consists of the following digits:
- Type of clamping/fastening method
- Insert shape
- Holder shape
- Clearance angle of the insert
- Orientation or cutting direction of the holder (R = right, L = left or N = neutral)
- Height of the shaft (e.g. 12 mm)
- Width of the shaft (e.g. 12 mm)
- Length of the holder
- Manufacturer-specific information

2. enter the standard designation in the product search
Enter the standard designation in our search field in the online shop. All you need to do is enter the first seven digits. All items containing this turning tool holder (incl. indexable insert) will then be listed. This will also show you turning tool sets that include the turning tool you are looking for.
3. information on indexable inserts on article pages
If you click on an individual indexable insert, you will be redirected to the corresponding article page. You can then click on the accessories tab below the article image to see a list of all accessory products. All indexable inserts that fit this clamping holder are also listed there (images 1 and 2). By clicking on the article, you will be redirected to the product page. Alternatively, you can also add the item directly to your shopping basket.
On the product page of a turning tool set, you will find information on the matching indexable inserts in the corresponding graphic next to the product images. All standard designations of the set including the matching designations of the indexable inserts are listed there (Fig. 3). You can then enter the code number of the indexable insert in our product search.
