Intended use
The SIEG SC7 is a lathe for use in the high-end hobby sector. Due to its versatile application possibilities, this machine is used in functional modelling, in individual and small series production or in prototype construction. The lathe is designed for machining steel, cast iron, all non-ferrous metals, aluminium, brass, etc., but can also be used for machining plastics or similar materials that are not hazardous to health or generate dust.

Description of the
The SIEG SC7 is a 230-volt machine with variable speed control. This lathe is driven by a powerful, brushless DC motor with an output power of 1,000 watts. The dynamic control ensures a high torque in all speed ranges. It adjusts automatically to maintain the specified speed. The SC7 has two speed ranges, 100 to 1,200 and 200 to 2,200 rpm. The high and low speed ranges can be selected by simply shifting the drive belt. It has a centre width of 760 mm and a solid machine bed. The SC7 has 25 longitudinal and 14 face feeds and 18 metric thread pitches, which can be set via the feed gearbox. A reversible centre allows the direction of rotation of the lead screw to be changed independently of the direction of rotation of the lathe chuck. This means that left-hand threads can be produced with this machine. The direction of rotation and speed can be set at the touch of a button and via a potentiometer on the control panel. The speed display, the START and STOP buttons and the emergency stop button are also located on the control panel.
The glass scale measuring system mounted on the lathe is characterised by very extensive functions and display options. Selected functions are shown graphically on the display with a diagonal of 18 cm / 7 inches for better understanding. The position display offers the option of choosing between turning, milling or grinding mode. The languages available are German, English, Spanish, French and Chinese.
The following functions are available in turning mode:
- Taper turning
- Tool correction
- The traverse path in the X-axis can be displayed either in diameter or radius.
- It is possible to display Z and Z0 combined, i.e. the travel of the bed slide and the travel of the top slide are displayed together.
The following functions are available in milling mode:
- Inclined contour / surface: Milling of phases or diagonal surfaces
- Setting any number of holes at an even distance on a straight line (SHL function)
- Milling a radius or circular arc
- Illustration of a hole circle for uniformly placed holes on a circular arc
- Determination of the centre point between two points
The values can be displayed in mm or inches in all operating modes. It is possible to change the sign when displaying the individual axes. A standby mode can be activated on the position display. The display brightness, date, time and acoustic signals can be set. A calculator function with memory is also available.
Please note: The specified travel distances may be reduced if the measuring bars are fitted.
