Oval chisel 19 mm, blade length 160 mm

Intended use

An oval chisel is mainly used in woodturning for working on spindle wood and is designed to produce clean cuts on curves, chamfers and straight sections. The oval shape of the blade reduces the contact area with the support surface, making it easier to guide with greater control. It produces smooth surfaces and precise contours, particularly when making pulling cuts. The oval chisel is suitable for both fine detail work and for working on longer sections of spindle.

Description of the

This oval chisel has a 19 mm wide and 160 mm long blade made from W4Mo3Cr4V1 HSS steel. The high-speed steel used has a hardness of 57-63 HRC and therefore offers good wear resistance and stable cutting performance for spindle work. Thanks to its oval blade shape, the chisel can be guided more easily and with greater control over the tool rest and produces clean cuts on curves, chamfers and straight sections. With an overall length of 415 mm and a 255 mm ash wood handle, the tool is balanced in the hand and supports precise guidance both for detailed work and when working on longer spindle surfaces.

sehr gutes Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis

gutes Material - gute Standzeit. Kam schon gut geschärft an. Meißel war allerdings sehr schief in das Heft eingesetzt. Da ich selber nur mit Sovereign Wechselgriffen von Robert Sorby arbeite und den Holzgriff entfernt habe, war das für mich aber unerheblich.
