Michael
Michael, what is your job title and who is part of your team?
I've been working as a Technical Sales and Product Manager at paulimot since October 2022. My team "Technical Sales and Customer Support" includes my colleagues Alfredo, Timo, Jannis and Wolfgang as well as our team leader Frank Schlögel.
What are your main activities and which tasks do you enjoy the most?
In technical sales, my main tasks include processing customer enquiries by phone or email and providing personal advice in the paulimot specialist shop in Neu-Ulm. As a product manager, I mainly look after the continuous expansion of the paulimot range. For example, I look for new machine models or order and check sample machines.
I particularly enjoy "accompanying" new products. From researching suitable designs and comparing offers through to certification according to various guidelines - this process is always very interesting!
How did you hear about the vacancy at paulimot?
I saw the job advert for paulimot in the newspaper and was immediately drawn to it by the headline "No more desire for shift work?". After more than 20 years working three shifts at my former employer, I wanted to change that. That's why the opportunity to work regular hours at paulimot while continuing to work in the technical field appealed to me.
What industry did you work in before joining paulimot?
I previously worked as a group leader in a large industrial company. I also completed my training as a process mechanic in the metallurgical and semi-finished products industry at this company and my master's degree in 2020. So, just like my paulimot colleagues from technical sales, I have a technical background.
You mentioned that you worked for a large company. How do you now feel about the atmosphere at paulimot as a smaller company?
After 20 years in the same company, you naturally had a fixed environment there, which is why there was some uncertainty about how I would be received by my new colleagues when I changed jobs. But even during the familiarisation phase, the entire paulimot team always had an open ear for me, so I immediately felt at ease. In general, there is a very informal atmosphere at paulimot, where everyone treats each other as equals.
Thank you very much, Michael, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your everyday working life at paulimot.
