Trademark at paulimot: Keeps the team young with youth slang
Robin
Robin, you work at paulimot as an e-commerce specialist. What exactly are your tasks?
My responsibilities as an e-commerce specialist include our presence on the various online marketplaces. I put new products online and maintain the existing products. The highly dynamic nature of e-commerce also means that there are constant changes on the sales platforms. Guidelines, legal requirements or entire processes often change, so I have to stay constantly informed, incorporate changes and initiate follow-up changes in the company. In addition to marketplace management, I am also responsible for various marketing topics. I plan, create and publish content for the social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Afterwards, I analyse the success of the posts and obtain important information for future social media activities. For our YouTube videos, I work together with our colleagues from the Technical Sales and Customer Support team to create technically correct and interesting videos. Once the video has been filmed, I edit it and create the script, which my colleagues record. The edited video and audio file can then be merged and uploaded to YouTube. I am also responsible for coordinating our influencers. I am in constant contact with them and take care of both existing and the initiation of new collaborations. Another sub-task that I am responsible for is the team page in the paulimot online shop. To do this, I conduct interviews with our colleagues, from which I then write the texts for the team page.
Which of your tasks do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy all my tasks. However, if I had to choose one job, it would be YouTube. I like coming up with different video ideas and then realising them with my colleagues from the Technical Sales and Customer Support team. I particularly enjoy editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro. It allows me to be creative, use different editing techniques and constantly develop my skills. It's great to have uploaded a good and interesting video at the end.
You successfully completed your apprenticeship as an e-commerce merchant here at paulimot in February 2022. How did you feel during your apprenticeship?
In general, I really enjoyed the apprenticeship. I was taught a lot of interesting content, which taught me a lot. I was also able to learn the necessary theory at vocational school. During my apprenticeship, I worked in all the teams in the company. This also gave me a lot of interesting insights into the day-to-day running of the company at paulimot and gave me a better understanding of all the cross-departmental processes. This experience will pay off in my daily tasks and projects once I have completed my training. During the entire training period, I never felt like the "classic apprentice" because all my colleagues saw me as a permanent and fully-fledged part of the paulimot family. As the very first trainee in e-commerce at paulimot, many things were new not only for me, but for the entire company. However, together with my trainer and my then trainee colleague Birte, who started her training a year after me, we were able to overcome all the challenges and constantly improve the training process. Even though the training period was very enjoyable and, above all, instructive, I am delighted to now be an integral part of the E-Commerce & Marketing team and to have my own tasks, responsibilities and projects.
What advice would you give to potential applicants for an apprenticeship as an e-commerce clerk?
From my experience, I can definitely recommend the apprenticeship. First of all, I can say that e-commerce is a very promising career field. I personally find it exciting how many processes take place in the background of an online retailer. Skills that an applicant should have are the ability to work in a team and flexibility. A basic interest in commercial topics and online shopping in general is also an advantage.
Thank you, Robin, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your everyday working life at paulimot.
