Trademark at paulimot: Regularly provides her team with sweets
Sabine
Sabine, you work at paulimot in the Technology and Logistics team as a logistics employee. What are your tasks here?
Exactly, I've been working part-time in this role at the company since September 2015. On the one hand, my tasks include the classic warehouse and logistics processes: I pick and pack the goods for our orders, process returns and bargain items or take care of incoming deliveries of goods, i.e. I put them on the shelves or pallets and make sure that everything is in its place in our warehouse. On the other hand, I'm also responsible for a few jobs around our building, looking after our plants and doing small gardening jobs.
What is your working day like?
I'm always the first to arrive in the morning and unlock the yard gate and building. Then I boot up our PC, which is available to the entire Technology and Logistics team. Every day there's something different that needs to be done. Sometimes there are bargain items that need to be recorded and put away, sometimes there are things left over from the previous day that I take care of first thing in the morning. We constantly take turns within the team with the daily tasks, such as picking and packing orders. In this way, we try to bring as much variety as possible into everyone's working day.
What attracted you to the job at paulimot?
When I introduced myself here, I was given a tour of the entire building, among other things. I immediately noticed the particularly clean and tidy warehouse, which impressed me. I didn't know that from previous jobs. I also liked working in a smaller team. Although I've had more and more colleagues in the logistics department over the years, I find the current team size of seven team members, some of whom work full-time and some part-time, very pleasant.
You've just mentioned your team. How would you describe the atmosphere?
The atmosphere in the team is very good. Both with my direct logistics colleagues Tomasz, Waldemar, our deputy team leaders Anna and Ilja Gutschmidt, as well as with the technicians Jermaine, Michael, Ulrich and our team leader Frank Schlögel. We all attach great importance to treating each other with respect and have a very informal relationship within the team. That's how we get through the stressful working days together.
You've been at paulimot since 2015, making you the longest-serving of your logistics colleagues. What changes have you experienced in recent years?
In my early days, we packed and dispatched around 50 parcels a day. The working day was comparatively relaxed and you weren't always fully utilised. It's different today. On Mondays during the winter months, we sometimes send over 1,000 parcels a day and on the other days of the week we regularly send over 300 parcels. This means that we send over 2,000 parcels per week. So a lot has changed in this area in recent years! Compared to 2015, we now also have significantly more products in our range, which means we can serve a larger number of customers.
Thank you, Sabine, for the interview and the many interesting insights into your day-to-day work at paulimot.
