Screwdriver holder

Builder: Fridolin Messerer
Creation time of the model: approx. 1.5 hours
Total cost: approx. 15€
Level of difficulty: Beginner
A green holder on a wall contains seven screwdrivers of different sizes and colours, arranged both horizontally and vertically.

The project

A holder for screwdrivers was made from a sheet of aluminium.

Tools / material used

Step 1

Transfer the pattern

Firstly, the pattern was drawn onto the sheet using a square, ruler and marker.

Metal plate with markings for drill holes in a regular grid. Green sticky labels indicate hole sizes and sequence. Red lines show dimensions.
Step 2

Drill the holes

A hole diameter of 10 mm was chosen to match the screwdrivers that would later be used in the holder. After drilling the holes, the corners of the sheet metal were rounded to a radius of 12.5 mm using tin snips.

To remove the sharp edges, these were deburred with a file in the next step.

A drilling machine drills a hole in a metal plate with red markings for further holes.
Metal plate with drill holes, red markings and dimensions. A drill is in the process of drilling a hole. A green piece of paper with "Ø 10MM" is lying next to it.
Metal plate with markings and a rounded corner next to a pair of tin snips on a rough surface. Small, green slips of paper are attached to the plate.
Step 3

Bevelling

When bending, it is important to pay attention to the sequence and direction. For example, the sheet metal had to be turned round for bending lines 2 and 4.

Metal plate on a folding bench. Screws hold the plate in place. Another plate lies next to it, marked with dimensions and a sticker.
A red folding bench bends a silver piece of metal at a right angle. Markings on the piece of metal are visible.
A curved metal bracket stands on a workbench. Dimensions are marked on the bracket with red lines and several drill holes can be seen.
Step 4

Painting the sheet metal

Finally, the bracket was sanded and painted.

A metal, unpainted bracket lies on a slightly uneven, grey surface. The bracket has a row of holes along one side.
