Spray can holder

The project
A small storage shelf was built from a sheet of metal that is suitable for spray cans and other items in the workshop. The shelf consists of a single piece of sheet metal, which was folded into a wall bracket using only the bending process and no other techniques.
Tools / material used
- Press brake W1.0 x 610A
- Sheet metal
- Marker
- Sheet metal shears or other tool to cut the sheet metal
- Square
- Ruler
- File for deburring
- Drill
- Drilling machine / cordless screwdriver or similar
- centre punch
Step 1
Transfer the pattern
Firstly, the pattern including the bending lines was drawn onto the sheet using a square, ruler and marker. A depth and height of 70 mm were chosen for the holder, as this corresponds to the diameter of a spray can. The length of the shelf should be a multiple of 70 mm. The overhang is also 15 mm.
The holes were then drilled and the contour cut out. A drill bit with a diameter of 4 to 5 mm was chosen for the holes so that standard screws could be used later for fastening.

Step 2
Bevelling
The exact sequence should be observed when folding. The first fold is folded through 180°. It is advisable to bend the sheet as far as the folding bench will allow. The rest was then bent over with a soft rubber mallet to create a reinforced, rounded edge.
The next step was to bend the remaining bends. It is important to turn the sheet once at bending line 4 so that it can be bent in the other direction.
Step 3
Finished holder
Finally, the holder for the spray cans was painted. Of course, the dimensions of the small shelf can be freely selected so that it can also be used for other utensils.
