The project

As a former machine fitter at the Fritz Kern machine factory in Lörrach, this customer built a small Kern D20 lathe on a scale of 1:30 for his desk. The lathe has a movable longitudinal slide. The jaw chuck, the tailstock and the two large handwheels can also be moved.

Making the lathe

First, a sketch was made with the dimensions of the lathe.

The dimensions are: 10.4 x 3.11 x 4.73 cm

The aluminium profiles were then matched, glued and painted.
