Marking compasses
Circles and radii, which serve as dimension lines, can be transferred or scribed onto the surface of the workpiece with a scriber (also known as an arc compass). To ensure that the tip of the scriber has a better grip on the workpiece, a small indentation can first be made on the surface with a centre punch. The other tip of the compass is then used to create the scribe line. Marking compasses are also suitable for transferring and transferring diameters and lengths. They are used in both metal and woodworking.
