Intended use
A centre point (often also referred to as a centring point or rolling centre) is one of the most important tools when working on a lathe. It is fitted into the tailstock as a securing device, enabling even long, thin and heavy workpieces to be machined safely and with dimensional accuracy. With its seven interchangeable inserts, this set offers a wide range of applications. The external cone is particularly suitable for centring hollow workpieces such as tubes. The internal cone included in the set can also be used to centre workpieces without a centre point. The five centring tips allow for precision work on the workpiece. Centre-pointing tips are particularly useful at higher spindle speeds.

Description of the
The centre point has two ball bearings and therefore achieves a high concentricity of max. 0.015 mm. It can be used up to a speed of 2000 rpm. The steel centre points and cones are hardened and ground, which increases the load capacity and service life of this item. The point angle of the centre points is 60°, as is usual for centre points. The angle of the outer cone is 70°.
In contrast to fixed centre points, the tip of rotating centre points rotates with the workpiece, which prevents friction and enables higher speeds.
We can supply you with further centre punches with 7 inserts in sizes MK2 to MK4.
Scope of delivery
- 1 x MK1 centring tip
- 5 x tip
- 1 x internal cone
