Indexable inserts are available in various shapes and with special coatings, depending on the intended use or the material to be machined. They are fastened with a screw or by clamping onto the holders provided for this purpose and have several cutting edges. If an edge is worn, the clamping screw can simply be loosened, the insert turned over and a new cutting edge used.
