Fixed steady rests
Fixed steady rests are clamped to the lathe bed. During assembly, the position should be selected where the workpiece is most likely to bend. In addition, the fixed steady rest should not interfere with the feed movement of the slide. Fixed steady rests are also the method of choice when long workpieces have to be machined on the face side.
